City Agencies Supporting Youth:
DAYTON YOUTH COUNCIL

The Dayton Youth Council (DYC) was established
by the Dayton Commission on Youth to create a
means of expression and leadership development
for the city's youth ages 9-12 years old.
Recognizing the importance of including the
youth voice in planning public policy and other
decision-making that directly affects the lives
of young people, the Council empowered by the
DYC serves to advise the Mayor and City
Commission, and other city departments on a
range of matters important to youth. The Youth
Council meets monthly. For more information,
contact 333-4021.
CITYWIDE TEEN COUNCIL

The Citywide Teen Council
is a group of local high school freshmen,
sophomores, juniors, and seniors elected to
represent the interests of Dayton’s teenagers.
The City-Wide Teen Council was founded on
November 9, 2005 in order to prepare Dayton’s
youth for life and leadership by allowing their
voices to be heard. The Council was formed under
the direction of the City Commission and is
governed by the Department of Recreation and
Youth Services. The mission of the Citywide Teen
Council is to: provide a fun, yet structured
forum that allows a diverse group of Dayton
teens to have a voice in and serve their
community, while developing strong leadership
and citizenship skills.
The teen council meets monthly. For more
information, please contact the Bomberger Teen
Center at 333-8336.
