CITYWIDE TEEN
COUNCIL
The Citywide Teen Council
is a group of local high school freshmen,
sophomores, juniors, and seniors elected to
represent the interests of Dayton’s teenagers.
The City-Wide Teen Council was founded on
November 9, 2005 in order to prepare Dayton’s
youth for life and leadership by allowing their
voices to be heard. The Council was formed under
the direction of the City Commission and is
governed by the Department of Recreation and
Youth Services. The mission of the Citywide Teen
Council is to: provide a fun, yet structured
forum that allows a diverse group of Dayton
teens to have a voice in and serve their
community, while developing strong leadership
and citizenship skills.
The CWTC will accomplish
this mission by:
A.
Working together to address important
issues;
B.
Providing input into city governmental
policies, decisions, and programs that affect or
serve young people;
C.
Developing working relationships with
city elected officials, city administration,
other youth organizations, schools, service
groups and other nonprofit agencies in planning
and implementing social, educational, cultural
and recreational activities/programs for teens;
D.
Communicating issues and activities to
other teens in their neighborhoods, schools and
priority board areas;
E.
Identifying and recommending possible
solutions for existing and emerging youth needs
and issues; and
F.
Providing volunteer, service and
leadership development opportunities for Dayton
teens.
The teen council meets monthly. For more

Center at 333-8336.
